I related what I was doing at the lab during the day to that problem and after a few years, I developed an optimized algorithm to capture both the hill and the sunset in one picture. On the other hand, when I hit tab on the hill on the screen of my phone, the sunset would goes totally white. When I tab on the sunset the hill would go dark in the image. The sunset was so beautiful and so was the hill! I was not able to capture both the sunset and the hill in one image. When I was a graduate student, I was hiking around sunset time after a long day that had been spent in an imaging lab. The idea of this work was emerged as a result of relating a scientific work to a daily application. An easy to use app, so that you can remove the shades form your images with a few clicks without the need for using sophisticated programs such as Photoshop and Lightroom!
